VP Sales, Business Development (Japan)
Location: Japan or flexible within territory - Immediate start
IDTechEx provides business-to-business events, market research reports and consulting in high growth technology areas, namely printed electronics, RFID, thin film photovoltaics and smart packaging. The company has most operations based in the UK with 15 staff, and 2 staff based in the US, looking to grow to 4/5. Details about IDTechEx can be seen at www.IDTechEx.com.
Specifically, the role includes the following functions:
- Sales of consulting, reports, exhibitions and sponsorships to blue chips and start ups.
- Procurement and management of key accounts.
- Client procurement, proposal of technical consulting and follow through to project completion.
- Help plan and execute new ventures and products, such as membership model and spin off ventures.
- Research what our key accounts and other customers really want and try to provide it.
- Achieving or exceeding targets he or she helps to design.
- Land and help carry out consulting work.
- Identifying the needs of future customers and imaginative design of solutions.
- Assisting the Board in strategy and the optimised management and ethical control of the business.
- Supervision and expansion with sales team worldwide. Reporting, monitoring, motivating.
We are looking for the following qualities:
- Technical degree level educated, preferably with knowledge of printed electronics and/or RFID
- Proven marketing and sales record
- Creative/imaginative
- Does not overpromise
- Respected at high level by client companies
- Demonstrated ability to reach and sell to high level in client companies
- Concerned with long term relationships and value for money, ethical
- Excellent inter personal relationships, well connected, team player
- Motivates staff
- Languages useful but not essential
This is primarily a high level sales job not an administrative one. Considerable travel will be involved and an amount of delegation and international communication. For example, we do not have a Finance Vice President and we do not plan to appoint one in the near future. The CEO carries out consultancy and lectures. The Chairman and Chief Executive travel intensively as do many of the staff. The team is incredibly hard working and budget conscious - such as coach class travel, accommodation etc. The candidate needs to become cash positive on their sales versus pay within six months.
